Planning a new trip
The church is planning a new Disaster relief Mission trip- this time to the flood ravaged region of Northwestern Ohio, specifically in Bucyrus, Ohio and surrounding areas. Check out this You Tube Video that shows how badly needed our assistance is.
Volunteers have already been contacted, and the trip is planned for October 20th through October 28th.

Houma Village Grand Opening I've been clicking around on the pcusa.org website, looking for things to add to this blog and found this story with a picture of Beulah! Titled "Houma Village Grand Opening" it's worth checking out. You can explore the entire site for PDA, just Click Here to go There and take a look at all the different groups and churches involved, different opportunities to serve all over the world, new villages that are opening up, even job opportunities! Right now, our church is planning another trip down to the Gulf Coast for this fall in October, and I've heard that some individuals from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trips will be going down with other groups too. What a great ripple effect!

Heroes All
My Friends:
A few days ago I happened to wear my PDA t-shirt to one of my son's athletic events. Call me crazy, but I don't always wear the same colors as the other parents. I consider my PDA shirts a badge of honor and wear them with a great deal of pride. Usually they go unnoticed. On this particular day as I walked through the bleachers to return to my seat, a man looked at me and commented to his family "There goes a hero."
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"I said you are a hero." He replied. "You are one of those folks that went down to Biloxi with my church, Rosedale Gardens."
I thanked him for his kind words and returned to my seat. I then spent the next hour or so kind of dazed by his compliment. I'm not sure anyone has ever called me a hero before. Certainly not a stranger.
Please understand this story is not about me. It is about all of you. If I am in any way a hero to someone than each of you are too. We did what we did as a team and so we share the praise as a team.
As you enjoy this Christmas season and we celebrate the birth of the greatest of all heroes, please be assured that each and every one of you is thought of as a hero not only for your participation in mission work, but for who you are.
Welcome!!!

Conservative estimates project that more than $24 billion worth of private residential construction materials will be needed to address the needs.
Some areas of Louisiana, particularly New Orleans, are not ready to begin rebuilding because of a complex set of decisions that have not yet been made.
Mississippi has a smaller number of cases than Louisiana but is further ahead in their recovery.
